Steel Mace with Leather Grip

Product information "Steel Mace with Leather Grip"

Steel Mace with Leather Grip

This simple, sturdy mace with a square haft and a ridged ball- / bulb-shaped head is inspired by historical 16th / 17th c. examples. It is forged out of high carbon steel and equipped with a stitched leather grip and a leather wrist-retention strap.

Primarily developed as a powerful percussive device capable of crushing plate , this particular type of blunt is at times referred to as a Turkish mace. However, although indeed widely used by the Ottomans, it was also highly popular throughout Eastern Europe, the Middle East and India. The varied forms ranged from minimalistic, utilitarian shapes and patterns (usually wielded in combat) to heavily adorned, elaborately designed layouts (rather intended for ceremonial purposes or as a badge of rank).
